I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas May 2009 be a great year to celebrate with friends and family. Let's get a lot of scrapbooks done. That is my goal! I want to make an album of my husband's moose hunting trip for him and his Dad and make an album for our Hawaii trip while it is fresh in my mind. What a new concept. Don't get me wrong I love scrapbooking but I can't seem to find the time with everything else that needs to be done with running the store and all of my kids sports and activities. I am also talking the get organized challenge on Oprah. Wish me luck I have until May 2009 to get my house organized so I won't be so crazy. If we haven't used it in 12 months then we need to get rid of it. I started in David's room and I have to say it is coming together nicely. If you are going crazy at home with so much stuff and it not having a place then this challenge would be great for you. Decembers challenge was your living room. I lucked out we had just went through it and it is pretty organized. I am just fine tuning a few areas.
Well can you believe it is 2009. The month of December went by so fast. We waited for Dec. 15 to get here so we could fly to Kauai. We lucked out and our flight wasn't canceled and we made it to the tropical paradise. When we arrived it rained so hard, harder then at home in Washington. My husband wondered why we would spend the money for the rain. I informed him it was at least a warm rain!!!
The rest of our vacation was fabulous. Sunny with 82 degrees with a little rain here and there. We enjoyed the beaches, boogie boarding was one of the favorites for Randy, Hannah and David. Lily thoroughly enjoyed reading. She read the complete Twilight series along with 3 other books. I also read the Twilight series along with a Daniel Steele book. I haven't read that many books in the last 10 years. It was wonderful to be so relaxed and just enjoy the beautiful scenery.
We went ziplining, what a great time we had. I was scared to death and told our guide I needed a minute to prepare my self and He just pushed me off the edge. David was so eager he had to be the first to go. We went with Outfitters and on theirs you can go upside down. It was a lot of fun. I only have a few pictures since the camera died and I somehow forgot we had the video camera until the end. Speaking of the end we walked down to a waterfall and went swimming. You could climb up this ladder on the side of the hill and jump off on a rope swing. It was about 25 to 30 feet down. Randy went first and when he let go of the rope the knot on the end came back and smacked him in the nose. Broken nose, blood running down his face and he knew Dave was right behind him so he had to get ready in case he needed him. He complained about his nose for the rest of the trip. In fact he still gets edgey if you come close to his nose.
Everyone went fishing except my mom and I. It was very rough out at sea but they did catch a bunch of Yellow fin tuna and Skip jack tuna.
We spent Christmas at our resort they had this fabulous buffet with King crab, shrimp oysters, fish, prime rib, salads of all sorts, and sooooo much more!
These photos are of PUKA DOG! Let me tell you this was my husbands highlight of the trip. A puka dog is a homemade long roll which they stick on this cast iron rod to make the hole and toast the inside of the bun. Then you have your choice of a polish dog or veggie dog. You choose what kind of garlic sauce you want and what kind of relish. They had coconut, pineapple, mango, passion fruit and a few others that they make homemade. Then the mustard, they squirt some in the bottom of the bun and they put in the dog and some more on top and wow you have the best hot dog you have ever eaten. The owner is thinking of franchaising someday. Him and his wife were living on the beaches with no permanent residence until Puka dog emerged. They ran out of buns on occasion and theline was always out the door. Needless to say we ate there more than once. I have to say I think they are best with just regular yellow mustard. My husband wants to bring a Puka stand to Washington.
I can't say I missed the snow you all received back here. I seem to be freezing with the 35 degree weather and want to go back to the tropics. I told Randy he needs to get a job somewhere warm. I know he thinks I am kidding but I actually think I could move to HAWAII!! I would hate to leave all of my customers. I truly love Scrap N' Book and everything and everyone involved in it. No worries it won't be happening anytime soon.
